Free-Time Accident Insurance

The Studentenwerk Potsdam provides all students with free-time accident insurance (Freizeitunfallversicherung) for all accidents which occur during free-time activities, internships, and exam-related activities off the grounds of your institute of higher learning and everywhere in the world. The Studentenwerk Potsdam’s free-time accident insurance policy is with the Union Versicherungsdienst. It is valid off the grounds of the respective institute. Accidents not covered by state-mandated accident insurance are covered via this policy. Moreover, all students enrolled in an institute of higher learning in our area of responsibility are insured when they are taking part in an internship, at a workplace, or elsewhere, provided that their activities are exam-related. Also insured are accidents occurring at a place of employment or work-study for which state-mandated accident insurance in accordance with Social Code (Sozialgesetzbuch) VII is valid, provided that the activities are exam-related. The insurance policy is valid to these conditions worldwide. Students studying in a foreign country are only insured for accidents which do not occur during employment or studies on the campus of the institute of higher learning or during travel to and from these activities. What should you do in case of an accident? It is important that you quickly obtain the help appropriate to your situation. After an accident, you should seek out a doctor as quickly as possible. If insurance claims must be made, please fill out the accident report (Schadensanzeige) in a timely manner and send it to the Studentenwerk Potsdam, Friedrich-Ebert-Straße 4, 14467 Potsdam.
