Furnishings and Amenities

Furnishing

The rooms are fully equipped with wardrobe, bed, desk and chair, and shelf. Please bring bedding (sheets, blankets, and a pillow) with you. Some of the residences halls differ in detail:

In the residence hall "Zum Mühlenteich 4 and 6" are some fixed installed wardrobes. Otherwise, the same furniture is available as like in other residence halls.

House 3 in the Karl-Liebknecht-Straße 24/25 is not renovated. There are bathrooms and kitchens for shared use. Each room has a refrigerator and wash basin.

House 7 in the Karl-Liebknecht-Straße 24/25 consists of three and four room shared flats. The four room flats have an additional toilet.

Houses 15, 16, 17, 21, and 23 in the Karl-Liebknecht-Straße 24/25 have community kitchens and bathrooms. Each room is equipped with a refrigerator.

Internet, Telephone, and Cable Connection

All rooms are equipped with connections for television and telephone. In order to use television, please register with the GEZ (public television fee entity in Germany). For telephone use, one must enter into contract with a telephone service provider. There are a sufficient number of outlets in each room for electronic appliances. You must also provide your own lighting for your flat or room.

An internet connection is available via a contract with the University of Potsdam.

Laundry

Washrooms with washing machines and dryers are available in houses 3 and 7 (left) and in houses 15 and 21 (right). In order to use the machines, you must obtain a wash card for a small deposit of 10€ from the service point in the Studentenwerk Potsdam’s central office.

Trash Removal

Close to the residence halls you will find trash containers.

Bike Storage

Students can store their bikes in rooms found in the cellars of each house. There are sufficient spots to lock your bike outside as well.

Parking

Parking is available right near the residence halls.

Photovoltaic system and a gray-water harvesting system

In addition to our newly built residence hall in Brandenburg an der Havel, the residence hall "Zum Mühlenteich 4 and 6" is equipped with a photovoltaic system and a gray-water harvesting system. Here are the latest scientific findings regarding the saving of energy and water used.
