Furnishings and Amenities

Furnishing

The rooms are fully equipped with wardrobe, bed, desk and chair, shelf, and mobile cabinet. Please bring bedding (sheets, blankets, and a pillow), as well as curtains and other amenities with you.

Every shared flat has its own kitchen and bathroom. The kitchens are furnished with tables and chairs, stove, and refrigerator. The baths are equipped with shower or bathtub, toilet, and wash basin.

Electronics, Telephone, and Cable Connection

All rooms are equipped with connections for television and telephone. In order to use television, please register with the GEZ (public television fee entity in Germany). For telephone use, one must enter into contract with a telephone service provider. In the houses 3, 5, and 7, an internet contract exists with the Deutsche Telekom. There are a sufficient number of outlets in each room for electronic appliances. You must also provide your own lighting for your flat or room.

Laundry

Washrooms with washing machines and dryers are available in houses 1 and 20. In order to use the machines, you must obtain a wash card for a small deposit of 10€ from the service point in the Studentenwerk Potsdam’s central office.

Trash Removal

Close to the residence halls you will find trash containers.

Bike Storage

Students can store their bikes in rooms found in the cellars of each house. There are sufficient spots to lock your bike outside as well.

Parking

Parking lots in back of the houses 1, 3, 5, 7, 15, 16, 17, 18, 19, 20, and 21 provide enough space for parking. There are also public parking lots near by and additional parking along the adjacent side roads.

Free Time

Students can do sports in the Lustgarten park near by. These include football, volleyball, and basketball. One can relax in parks in the proximity as well.

A workout room managed by the university sports centre (Zentrum für Hochschulsport) can be used by students and tenants. It is located in the Breite Straße 7.

Childcare

For parents with children, two day mothers are located in house 18 for up to nine children.
