Furnishings and Amenities

Furnishings

The rooms are fully equipped with wardrobe, bed, desk and chair, and shelf. Please bring bedding (sheets, blankets, and a pillow) with you.

The community kitchens in houses 1- 3 are furnished and have a stove and refrigerator. In house 4, the community kitchens are equipped with a sink, cabinets, and two cooking plates. Here, laundry can be done as well. Every room is equipped with a refrigerator.

Electronics, Telephone, and Cable Connection

All rooms are equipped with connections for television and telephone. In order to use television, please register with the GEZ (public television fee entity in Germany). For telephone use, one must enter into contract with a telephone service provider. There are a sufficient number of outlets in each room for electronic appliances. You must also provide your own lighting for your flat or room.

In houses 1-3, you can obtain internet service via the University of Potsdam’s WLAN.

Laundry

A washroom with washing machines and dryers is available in house 1. In order to use the machines, you must obtain a wash card for a small deposit of 10€ from the service point in the Studentenwerk Potsdam’s central office.

Next door to the washroom is a room where students can hang their clean clothes to dry.

Trash Removal

Close to the residence halls you will find trash containers including normal trash, glass, paper, and recycling.

Bike Storage

Students can store their bikes in rooms found in the cellars of each house. There are sufficient spots to lock your bike outside as well.
