The study begins in the next weeks and the study financing does not stand yet? Then apply for BAföG now! For the winter semester 2020/21 the gift is even bigger. Up to 941 € BAföG per month are possible.
From autumn 2020 the following BAföG maximum rates will apply:
BAföG requirement rate for students
in Germany or within the EU
not living with their parents
living with their parents
up to 24 years
(non-contributory family health insurance; exception: extension due to voluntary services)
Accommodation requirements can be increased by SGB II
25 to 29 years
(own health insurance contributions in the favorable "Student Health Insurance (KVdSt)" and nursing care insurance contributions)
from 30 years or the 15th semester
(voluntary statutory health and nursing care insurance)
Students with child: additional 150 € as a flat-rate childcare supplement
Limit for asset offset: 8.200 €
Do you already receive BAföG and have not yet submitted the follow-up application?
Then become active now and secure your funding for the new academic year. To make the follow-up application even easier, new forms will be available from mid-September (Form 9: Follow-up application).

You can submit the initial or follow-up application online or on paper:
Complete online application (with online identification function)
Fill in the application online, print it out and send/bring it to us (without online identification function)
Upload portal for subsequent submission of documents
Paper application: You can print out forms yourself or pick them up in the lobby of the Studentenwerk Potsdam's main office (Babelsberger Straße 2, entrance: Lange Brücke). Please note: New forms will be available in mid-September. You can still use the old forms for the time being.
Informal application: End of the month and still no time for the BAföG application? You can still secure funding for the month that is coming to an end and submit an informal application. The BAföG office will request the missing documents.
